PlayStation Finally Decides To Allow Cross-Platform Play…

Mark Today, Because It Is A Revolutionary For Gaming As We Know It!

Out of my true and utter surprise(and probably everyone’s), Sony has finally given up in their fight against cross-platform play for Fortnite! What brought this on is not really known. But when the vast majority of the internet is yelling at you to do it, you begin to feel the pressure. Here is the official statement from PlayStation on their website:

Following a comprehensive evaluation process, SIE has identified a path toward supporting cross-platform features for select third party content. We recognize that PS4 players have been eagerly awaiting an update, and we appreciate the community’s continued patience as we have navigated through this issue to find a solution.

The first step will be an open beta beginning today for Fortnite that will allow for cross platform gameplay, progression and commerce across PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Mac operating systems. We see the beta as an opportunity to conduct thorough testing that ensures cross-platform play is best on PlayStation, while being mindful about the user experience from both a technical and social perspective.

The Future Of Online Gaming

This only starts with Fortnite. But imagine what it can eventually grow to become. Can you imagine Red Dead Online with other console players? It is a very plausible idea. This is truly going to change the way we play online forever. Slowly but surely the separation created via consoles will be merged together and its going to be awesome. Here is the tweet from Fortnite’s official twitter praising Sony for this decision:

Let me know what you guys think of this ground breaking decision and what games you would want to be cross-platform compatible! Thanks for reading and stay tuned here at DLGN!
