NES Games and Controllers Coming To The Nintendo Switch…

NES Fans, Get Your Wallets Ready For This

The Nintendo Direct was full of exciting new announcements and news. One of the most exciting was Nintendo discussing their new online subscription system, similar to that of Xbox Live Gold or PS+. I will cover all the details of that in a different article, but one take away from it was the mention of virtual games. What does this mean exactly?

Nintendo will be offering access to over 20 original NES games that you can play on your Nintendo Switch anytime, anywhere. This is of course only available with their online service. They will be adding more games over the following months, possibly adding the whole library of NES games. This is extremely exciting news. If they can emulate NES games on the switch, why wouldn’t they be able to emulate other systems? All the original Mario Parties from the Game Cube? Yes, please! Here are all the titles launching with the service on September 18th:

Launch titles:

  • Soccer
  • Tennis
  • Donkey Kong™
  • Mario Bros.™
  • Super Mario Bros.™
  • Balloon Fight™
  • Ice Climber™
  • Dr. Mario™
  • The Legend of Zelda™
  • Super Mario Bros.™ 3
  • Double Dragon
  • River City Ransom
  • Ghosts’n Goblins™
  • Tecmo Bowl
  • Gradius
  • Pro Wrestling
  • Excitebike™
  • Yoshi™
  • Ice Hockey
  • Baseball

And with this announcement, Nintendo has revealed something else as well.

That’s right, Nintendo is making NES controllers that work for Nintendo Switch. These are Bluetooth controllers and charge by connecting them to Switch like you would Joy-cons. This is super exciting! Thanks for reading and stay here at DLGN!
