Come On Sony, You Know You Want To…
We’ve all been wondering why Sony does not offer crossplay with other systems. PlayStation 4 users can play with PC users, but as soon as someone else from another system joins everything goes wrong. Well basically it just doesn’t work due to there being an “Issue.” So everyone wants to know, what’s the issue with Sony and crossplay? Why can’t all systems just join to together and drop at Tilted Towers? Xbox, Nintendo, PC, and phones users are all playing together, so it’s obviously achievable. But let’s be honest we know the reason. Sony is in the lead for console sales and they believe if others are playing on a different console then they are losing money. And if they are buying all the latest skins and pickaxes on other systems than that is even more money they are losing. Greed. That is the answer. But of course Sony won’t admit that. Here is what the CEO of Sony, Kenichiro Yoshida said about the issue:
On cross-platform, our way of thinking is always that PlayStation is the best place to play. Fortnite, I believe, partnered with PlayStation 4 is the best experience for users, that’s our belief. But actually, we already opened some games as cross-platform with PC and some others, so we decide based on what is the best user experience. That is our way of thinking for cross-platform.
But this is a complete and blatant lie. But its been proven that Fortnite actually runs better on Xbox One X than PS4 Pro as far as resolution scaling. But Sony won’t say that, but it still does not make sense. Even though Sony ‘thinks’ that PlayStation is the best to play on does not mean their users cannot enjoy a game with other consoles. And if it’s not that big of an issue for them, than why can you not use your Epic account to sign into other console versions if you tie it to your PlayStation account? That is Sony obviously trying to block their users from using any other console, and if they do than they are punished by having to make a new account. That really should not be something that happens.
Greed, Greed, and Jealousy…
I feel like this is Sony getting back at other consoles when they were down and not the top dogs of the game. Wanting crossplay is not a new topic. Gamers have been asking for it for years now, and with no avail. Sony was open to the idea years ago but Microsoft was not. So now that the tables have turned they are throwing it right back in Microsoft’s face. But from a financial standpoint it must make sense as well. They have probably run the numbers and have seen the long-term effect it could have on sales and profits. Then taking those numbers and compared them to the risk of pissing off their users. Obviously we have seen which was the greater factor when making their decision.
Well I guess we will just have to wait and see. Maybe one day Sony will come around and join in the squads and get that W. The overall gathering of all consoles to me seems like it will better strengthen the gaming community as a whole. Differences can be thrown to the sides and just enjoy the games they are playing. But only time will tell. Let me know what you guys think of Sony stance on this issue!
